Mason really wanted to make play dough, so we did. I used the cooked play dough recipe from Familylicious, and it turned out great. I think the key is mixing all of the dry ingredients together first, then adding the liquids and mixing them up, then heating everything. In the past I've tried to mix the dough while it's heating and that doesn't seem to work very well.
We only made a couple of batches because we ran out of salt. I used gel food coloring which is my new favorite thing. It takes so much less food coloring than the regular stuff and the colors turn out brighter.
I probably added a little too much flour after the play dough was done which might make it too dry. I'm not sure yet.
I guess I was taking too many pictures because Mason was super irritated with me. I told him to just pretend I wasn't there. He said "Mom. You ARE there. I can see you. I'm not pretending."

Lucky kids! We never get out of school anymore and it is so much colder here. -28 again this morning. Millie and I are going to try your play dough while we also try to stay warm.
Nicole, I can't even imagine -28! Oh my. It really wasn't cold enough for the kids to get out of school (it was ONLY -15). They mainly got out because of the power outages. The Middle School and some of the Elementary schools didn't have power as well as lots of people in town. Not us, thankfully. We had our heat cranked up to a toasty 70 degrees.
