Our kids go through phases. Lots of them. In all areas of life. Bre used to really like having her picture taken. Then she went through a phase where whenever I'd point the camera at her she'd put her hands over her face or glare at me. I'd tell her "Later you're going to wish we had pictures of you. You're going to look through albums and ask me why I never took any pictures of you and it's not going to be because I didn't try."
A couple of weeks ago we were trying to find some recent pictures of Bre on the computer for a school project but could find hardly any usable ones. She said to me "Why are there so many pictures of the little kids and hardly any of me?!" I raised my eyebrows and looked at her like "For real?"
She said "Oh yeah. Okay. I get it."
Since then she's been a little more willing to let me snap pictures of her.Mason is going through a "don't take my picture" phase right now too. If I tell him to smile, forgetaboutit. Unless he's in a really great mood.
Mia will almost always smile for a picture.
Which is super.
Brook is pretty easy going and usually doesn't mind having her picture taken. Unless she's in a bad mood, of course.
We went to a hill that had been clearly used a lot for sledding. It was a little steeper and Brooklynn and Mia were pretty nervous about sledding down it. Bre and Mason, however, weren't.
Mason spent most of the time sledding down with no sled at all, which looked pretty uncomfortable, but he didn't seem to mind.
Mia finally tried it and saw that it wasn't so bad.
It took Brook a bit longer, but eventually Bre convinced her to go for it. She went down 5 or 6 times with her eyes covered before she dared to watch. The kids had fun and we stayed until it got too cold to stay any longer. But take note: Tubes meant for floating the river should NOT be used for sledding in freezing cold weather. We started the day with 3 perfectly good river rafting tubes and ended the day with 3 flat river rafting tubes. Maybe this is common knowledge... but I didn't think it'd be a bit deal to use them. Oops.
This was what the sky looked like when we left.
