Island Park, Sledding and Snowmen

Yesterday we drove up to Island Park to spend the day with my mom and Eric who were staying in a cabin up there for a couple of days. We had thought about renting a snow machine- but there just wasn't time by the time we got there and settled, so instead we went sledding and played in the snow. It was a perfect day for snowman making.

Ryan is so good to play with the kids. He rode the sleds down the hills, helped with the snowmen and had lots of snowball fights.
At one point Mason came up behind grandpa Eric and hit him with a big snowball. I thought Eric's response was so cute. He just laughed and turned around and chased him. Mason was laughing and laughing. It was fun to watch.
Brooklynn and Mia both built their own snowmen. Brooklynn used her earrings for her snowman's eyes and pinecones and sticks for the rest.

After they played in the snow, we pulled them on the sleds behind the car for a little bit. We were just on a little road where no one else was and we went super slow, but Mason thought it was the best thing ever. We left the back part of the car open so that whoever wasn't riding the sleds could sit back there and watch.  It was fun, but I may driven a little too close to the shoulder of the road and got stuck in a snow drift. Fortunately a guy with a tow rope drove by and pulled us out. Good times.

After we got back to the cabin the little kids sat in the hot tub at the cabin. Then we watched a movie and Eric made us all a hamburger on the grill. Then Ryan, Bre, my mom and I learned how to play Skp Bo. It was a fun day!

Top 12 of 2012:
Here's basically how the party works.
Everyone brings their list and copies for everyone of what they've loved in 2012 (or whatever year it is). So this year is was list of 12. It could be a product, cooking gadget, kids toy, new store, new website, etc. Anything they've found in 2012 that's new. Then one of the items has to be a new recipe. So you make it, bring it to share, and bring copies for everyone. Then after everyones gone through their list, sharing all the details of their list, you do a gift give away. Everyone brings something from their list as a gift. You do it white elephant style, but leave all the gifts unwrapped so you can pick what you want. I have done a price range in the past so people have an idea...it helps so it's not too unfair when you're all trying to get the "good gift." I've LOVED throwing this party. It's so fun! My friends who've moved away say they've thrown the party and it's always a hit where ever they go.
You should throw one! Hope this helps!
Also, I had a friend tell me that there is a similar party Oprah throws, where everyone brings 1 gift for each person at the party. So everyone gets a ton of gifts to take home. That sounds fun too. Once we're making money of course. :)
