Ryan needs to work late tonight so I told the kids we'd go to Idaho falls to run some errands. Mia wanted to go so that we could exchange her Furby. Bre really wants to go so we can exchange some pants she got for Christmas. The little kids have been playing in the living room with some Legos they got for Christmas (thanks Megan, Steven and grandma J) but they made a huge mess. I told the them they needed to get it cleaned up before we could go.
Chaos ensued.
It's dinner time, after all, and cleaning up at dinner time is never a pleasant experience. Mia and Mason were at each other- and when I started to get frustrated- I decided it wasn't worth it.
We'll go another day.
But Bre reeealy wanted to go.
I told her I didn't have the energy to deal with the fighting and drama and that she and I could go another day.
Instead, Bre completely motivated Mason and Mia to clean up the living room with all sorts of positiveness. "Come on guys. Let's have a contest to see who can clean up the quickest! It will be fun!" "You guys are doing great! You're great cleaner-uppers! Way to go!" "Hurry! You're almost done and then we can go! We'll have a great time. You can do it, Mason!"
I laid on my bed and listened to her be super patient with them while they pitched a huge fit, but ultimately changed their attitudes and cleaned up the mess in about 5 minutes.
It is pretty amazing to see what she can do when she's in the right mood.
Wish I could bottle that and sell it.
